Abstract

Over the past few decades, the field of translation studies has experienced substantial expansion, and it is currently thriving and relatively new in the Western world. It wasn't until the early 1970s that the Low Countries (Belgium and the Netherlands) acknowledged translation studies as a legitimate academic field of study. There are a number of contemporary theorists who contend that translation studies places an inordinate amount of importance on translated texts, while ignoring a considerable corpus of translation data from a variety of academic fields. These fields include media studies, psychology, philosophy, theatre, art, and architecture. The basic components of this website are broken down into four categories. This first segment, which is titled "Pre-Discipline," investigates the time period beginning at the close of World War II and continuing through the 1970s. Under the heading "Discipline," the second section examines the late 1970s and early 1980s as the pivotal time period that played a significant role in the development of the field of translation studies. The closing chapter, titled "Interdiscipline," investigates the growth of the subject throughout the 1990s and 2000s, as well as the numerous endeavours that it has undertaken in collaboration with other fields of study. In the final phase, which is referred to as "Post-Discipline," the definitions and boundaries of the area are further fleshed upon. This segment marks the beginning of a new stage. In the foreword of the magazine translation that was just recently released, there is a review of my previous scholarly contributions, which includes a paper that was published in 2008 and titled "Translation and Identity in the Americas." Furthermore, it digs into the idea of "post-translation studies," which was initially presented by Siri Nergaard and Stephano Arduini in their academic work titled "Translation: A New Paradigm" written in 2011.
